Open call: Flowers AND RELATED THEMES

DEADLINE FEBRUARY 15TH, 2027

Soft Publishing is a small independent publishing house producing contemporary photography books in limited editions.

We are excited to announce a new open call dedicated to flowers, interpreted in the broadest and most original way possible. Flowers can be photographed in their natural context, such as a garden or a living room; they can be fresh-picked or withered. They may appear painted or printed on a dress, take the form of a flower-shaped vase, or be suggested by a chair whose shape evokes a blossom. They may be held by a person, or appear in a scene where a cat plays in a flower-filled meadow.

Any approach is welcome, as long as it relates to the theme. The examples above are intended purely as inspiration and should not be read as a list of subjects to follow literally.

We are aware that flowers have long been associated with femininity, but for this project we would like to move beyond that convention and explore the theme from as many perspectives as possible.

We welcome submissions not only in photography, but also in other artistic disciplines, including sculpture, video, collage, embroidery, and more.

If we receive a large number of diverse submissions, we would love to create a book structured into chapters, bringing together the many different interpretations of this theme.

We look forward to seeing your work. Submit your projects and let your creativity bloom!
